How do I start the trade-in process?

Type the model of your device in the search bar and select the device you want to send in (to find your model number look under the battery on the back). If you can’t find the make or model of your device, e-mail us at customerhelp@securetradein.com and we’ll let you know if it’s eligible for payment, or would be recycled.

How long do I have to send in my device?

You can select to print a postage-paid label (attached in an email) or have us send you an actual mailing kit. We must receive your device within 30 days of your registration. Beyond that, the quoted price may be adjusted based on market conditions.

Can I send in more than one device?

Yes. You can send in as many devices as you like, simply add all of your devices to your cart prior to check-out.

Do I need to send in all of the accessories (i.e. chargers, batteries, etc.) that came with my device?

We would appreciate if you would include your battery and charger with your device; however, these are not necessary to receive the full value for your device. Once you send your device to us, your accessories, booklets, cases and manuals will be recycled and we will not be able to return them to you if you decide to reject our offer.

What happens to my cell device?

Secure Trade-In receives more than 400,000 devices every month. Each device will be individually processed to confirm that the device matches the condition as registered. Once validated, we run your device through our proprietary data removal process, update the software and housings as necessary, and sell them for reuse in markets around the world.

What if I can't find my device?

If you can't find your device, it is most likely because the device is either too new or too old. If you’re uncertain of whether or device has a payout value, you can e-mail us at customerhelp@securetradein.com with the manufacturer and model number. We will let you know if your device is eligible for payment or recycling.

How do I erase my personal data from the device?

If you have the original user manual to your device, you can perform a “hard reset” to clear the information on your phone prior to sending it in. If you don’t have the original manual, don’t worry! Once we receive your device, we scrub and remove previous stored data too– giving you two layers of protection.

How do I identify my device model?

Your device model is typically listed on the back of your device, underneath your battery. It is usually the first item listed. For an iPhone, check "settings"; "General"; "About"; "Model".

How do you determine if a product is eligible for trade-in?

Only items that match the exact version displayed on our site are eligible for trade in. If your product does not exactly match the versions on our site, please try searching for it again. Items that do not match the item on the Secure Trade-In list will not be accepted. If the service carrier does not clear your phone’s serial number because of an open balance, theft report, or other issue with your account, the device cannot be accepted.

How do I know what condition my item is in?

Specific conditions descriptions can be found when you evaluate your device or below. The conditions are:

HEAVILY DISTRESSED/NON-FUNCTIONAL
Device is totally broken, has water damage, has a cracked screen, or the device is non-operable. We’ll recycle it for you.

HEAVY WEAR
Device has an LCD screen that works, but is cosmetically challenged, has engraving or something does NOT work.

NORMAL/AVERAGE WEAR
Device looks and works really well despite some light scuffs and scratches.

9 out of 10 are in this condition.

PRISTINE/VERY GOOD
Device is in mint condition, fully functional and looks like it hasn’t been used or taken out of the box.

What about Shipping and Payment?

We must receive all items within 30 days after the trade in submission to receive your full quoted value. You will receive an email confirmation once we receive your device at our processing facility. Once we receive your device, it may take up to 15 days or more to fully process your order.

Does my device need to be working?

We will accept any device for recycling, but only working, relatively scratch-free device will qualify for payment. With one click, use the slider to select condition of your device. This determines what your device is worth. Remember, an accurate evaluation avoids revised offers and helps you to get paid quicker.

When will I receive payment?

Payment is usually made between 15-30 days of your device being received. You can get updates regarding your payment status anytime by logging in and checking your account.

Can you send my phone back to me if I change my mind?

During checkout, you must select the option of whether you would like the device returned if it does not match your quote, or given the option to decide via email. If you choose to not accept the revised offer once we match your device(s) model and condition, we will send your device back to you free of charge.
